What we do

Dóchas key priorities include the following:

Focusing on Impact:

  • Clarifying and articulating NGO views regarding Development Effectiveness principles.
  • Sharing experiences of development practices that really work.
  • Setting  professional standards of practice for development work.
  • Supporting NGOs by ensuring relevant training and learning structures are available.

Ireland and Development:

  • Through the Act Now on 2015 campaign, lobby Government to deliver on Ireland's aid promises.
  • Communicating that aid works.
  • Work with members and Irish Aid to ensure the UN Review of the Millenium Development Goals results in effective action to eradicate poverty.

The Working Groups are at the heart of Dóchas’ work. They provide a platform for our members to come together and learn from each other. Through the Working Groups (and the less formal Learning Groups), members can come up with common solutions and recommendations for improvements to their own work and to the development cooperation programme of the Irish government and the EU.
